When the going gets tough, the tough get walking.
The studio is closed due to government restrictions. Serendipitously I received an invitation for the HK Coastal Trail Challenge. Honestly I had never considered the possibility of circumnavigating the island but Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time. Steven Wright
My team name is 'Gong for a Walk'. Armed with a titanium gong and looking like a teenage mutant turtle we started walking clockwise towards Pok Fu Lam spreading positive energy and intention one step at a time.
With the gyms closed I turn to Walking as the most ancient exercise and still the best modern exercise. Carrie Latet. Plus you have time to explore, discover and make new friends. I look forward to the next stages with optimism for with each step I Walk towards the good in life and one day you (it) will arrive. Atticus
For when you come back to me again, you will realise you’ve never left. Varshitha
We had a wonderful gong on the beach last night with an unbelievably warm evening, clear skies, crescent moon and gently rising tide. While floating in gong bliss I received a text announcing the new government directive invoking mandatory closures of all studios for 2 weeks from midnight tonight. Immediately this song came to mind….
Here you come again
Just when I've begun to get myself together
You waltz right in the door
Just like you've done before
And wrap my heart (life) 'round your little finger

We have to Accept what is, let go of what was and have faith in what will be. Anon
The gong bath tonight is ON. Thereafter between Jan 7-20 we are closed. We are issuing refunds today for every booking during that time. Our scheduling thereafter is dependent on govt’ regulations regarding social distancing. So please do keep an eye on the website and newsletter.
They say that Every setback leaves behind a path to make your comeback. anon. For me the The past is a place of reference, not of residence. So, face forward into the new year. One day at a time. As Martin Luther King Jr says, You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just the first step.
Bang a Gong
Since 1932 The Rank Group opened movies with a bare chested hunk hitting a gong. The first gong banger was Carl Dane, a former circus strongman. The original gong was made of paper mache and now resides in the London Film Museum. This week my Spotify weekly pick included Get it On by T.Rex. It went #1 in the UK and when they wanted to release in the USA the name was already taken. Thus BANG A GONG became a US #1 hit. And it is now my theme song for gong workshops. We ALL need a gong.
“One day a week I seek to rest
from earthly toil and sorrow.
Revitalised, I find the strength
to battle new tomorrows.”
― Richelle E. Goodrich
If only the whole world could feel the power of harmony.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Today is World Mathematics Day, a day to celebrate. The ancients understood the interrelationships between sound and space, between music, mathematics and the physical universe. Pythagoras identified '.. geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres' and created our first musical scale based on ratios.
Harmony exists when you play more than one note together. When I play my gongs I create a sound envelope overflowing with the harmonies of the universe for you to connect, align and become one.
This week I invite you to reflect on how, like Ebony and Ivory keys on a piano we can live together in perfect harmony, harmony with its roots in mathematics!
"I think music in itself is healing.
It's an explosive expression of humanity.
It's something we are all touched by.
No matter what culture we're from,
everyone loves music."
~ Billy Joel ~
