To care is to be human

Science has long known the importance of touch to a developing child yet social distancing and isolation has distanced us from what matters most. To care is to protect and support another person or thing. Facebook's new emojii reflects a societal need  - we all need a hug.

A new epidemic

This week I invite you to start a new epidemic. 

Smiling is infectious; you catch it like the flu 
When someone smiled at me today, I started smiling too. 
I passed around the corner and someone saw my grin 
When he smiled I realised I passed it on to him. 
I thought about that smile and realised its worth 
A single smile, just like mine, could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin, don’t leave it undetected.
