An attitude of gratitude

Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received.
Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling.
Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.   Henry Van Dyke

Today is American Thanksgiving. The most celebrated holiday of the year in the USA.  Yet why is it that “Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted?” – Aldous Huxley  Today I invite you to express gratitude.

You may be surprised at the result.
When I started counting my blessings my whole life turned around.-  Willie Nelson
Acknowledging it is not enough.
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” – William Arthur Ward
For Gratitude is the healthiest of human emotions, and the more you express it, the more likely you will have even more to express it for.  - Zig Ziglar

Research by  Christina Karns supports the idea that gratitude helps those who practice it.  Fear disappears, abundance appears.  People who practice report fewer physical symptoms of illness, more optimism, greater goal attainment, and decreased anxiety and depression, among other health benefits. Gratitude is a “moral barometer”—an acknowledgement “that one has been the beneficiary of another person’s moral actions.” And a moral reinforcer, meaning that you’ll see a “thanks” from others as a reward that will lead you to give more in the future. In other words, the more you give the more you receive.

On this holiday of plenty realise that Enough is a feast. - Buddhist proverb.
And that Gratitude transforms common days into thanksgiving, routine jobs into joy, and changes ordinary opportunities into blessings. - William Arthur Ward
Embrace an attitude of gratitude and as Henry David Thoreau says,
I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.
Turning every day into days of thanks.
