Clear The Decks

May 12, 2017 Martha Collard

'Out of clutter,
find simplicity.'

- Albert Einstein

Sat nam

Traditionally 'clear the decks' in any navy meant to stow your gear and prepare for battle.  Every book written on productivity and effectiveness recommends beginning with an organised workspace.  So how many of us wish these young men could magically sweep away all that is unnecessary in our lives?

Have you ever had a plant that just stopped growing despite your loving efforts only to realise that the pot was too small?  Did you know that fish will grow in proportion to the size of their environment?

This week's full moon encourages and empowers us to dream big, yet in order to manifest we need to let go to let grow, to create space around and within.  This week I invite you to sweep out the old to make way for the new.  You may find the following guidelines useful as you do so.

  • Is it beautiful?
  • Is it useful?
  • Can I live without it?
  • Do I need to keep it for legal reasons?
  • If I were free from guilt would I still keep it?
  • Have I used it in the past year? 5 years?
  • Does it fit with the vision of the life I wish to lead?Remember that clutter is more than physical 'stuff' it includes outmoded thinking, perceptions and habits.

Once you begin to make space,  ideas, opportunities and energy will flow towards you.

Go well.
