'To look forward, not back
To look out and not in,
and to lend a hand'

Sailors say 'one hand for the boat, one for yourself' especially in bad weather. In life we have one hand for ourselves and one to help others. Last night my daughter and I heard a tremendous crash as a sailboat piloted solo by an older gentleman careened into a parked sampan. The problem was a jammed propellor stuck in 'forward'.. He was clearly struggling to extricate his boat so we offered assistance. Within minutes his boat was free, his mooring lines secured and we all had smiles on our faces.
Studies around the world show the lack of empathy and engagement to strangers is increasing in modern society. This week I invite you to lend a hand, open a door, lift a parcel, and to give freely to others simply because you can. By giving , make two people happy.
Go well.
